Just updated my el cheapo saddle with a Brooks B17 Narrow. Looks different, but should be nice to feel something else on the arse than those gel padded and plastic deformities.

It's not the shoes that are compatible with the pedals, but the cleats. The cleats need to be compatible with the shoes. Best way to go is fit some shoes at bike stores and see which fit your feet...
