I had about 1.5mm between the chain stays and the tip of my Sugino 75 crank arms and never had an issue with the crank hitting the frame.

By using bottom bracket spacers (which are available in several thicknesses for this very purpose) in between the drive side edge of the shell and the BB flange.

Also FWIW, those chainstays don't look particularly "huge" to me.

Apologies, I misread your original post.

The crankset you have calls for a 111mm spindle for a proper chain line. Adding 6mm to that for clearance sake may not be the right thing to do.
