That's it in a nutshell. Most cyclists don't care if their chain isn't squeaky clean so, for them, applying lube is easier than waxing.

Personally, I'm really glad the oil grouches aren't constantly preaching their gospel like wax zealots. "I'm just not interested" is a lot easier to take than long wax sermons.
