I finally had a chance to ride. The new tires are good so far but being narrower than the old tires the ride is a little harsher on some rough asphalt. One stretch of road is almost like chip seal....

I took the bike to the bike shop. He said it was a weird problem and suggested the tire might be bad. He replaced both tires and no rubbing now.

i would have thought wider tires meant less height.
I will deflate like you said. The tire isn’t exactly hitting but it is touching/slightly rubbing.

I think I will have all of the spokes on my wheel replaced. If another breaks I will either have a wheel built or just go to the gym and lose weight before I ride again.
I do really like my bike.

the guy here is definitely competent. He said it would have a Shimano hub but I forgot to ask which. He said the rim is basically made for tandem bikes so it should wirk well.

The guy at the shop is an old hand. If I get a build I feel he will do a good job. I will have him look at it tomorrow. I want opinions here too.

These rims are DT Swiss 3.0 etrto 622x14 rims. The hubs are Axis.

I felt the other spokes and several have what feels like notches near the middle...
