Good points. I have beat the living daylights out of my CF mountain bike for 20 years, and so far so good. Steel does tend to ding or bend when damaged, where damage to CF is basically invisible.

Lookin good! I have some gatorskins in 32mm. Not a lot of fast road tires in that size, but those compass tires look nice!

that near 30lb weight and the site stating "4130 Double Butted Chromoly" turned me off.

but if it is around 25lbs with 525 reynolds, that would make a much more useful bike. ...
