So 1981 would be the frame manufacture year according to that. You can work out the fortnight too and figure out when in the year it was made pretty easily.

Personally I wouldn't buy or sell a 1000 so I doubt I can be of much help.. lowest numbered model I've boughten to date was a 2400 for 20 bucks that I stripped for backup parts for my 2500...
