I reckon it would but the trade-off is that it increases the braking power 5X (HED's claim) compared to a regular aluminum clincher rim. I can attest that it does stop a whole lot better than my C2...

Well it's not quiet but not as loud as CKs. I had the same spec'd wheel set with CK hubs and it has the "angry bee" sound which I actually liked a lot. Can't say anything about the stock Mavic wheels...
