Am I oriented wrong? Is that the right side or left side? Chainstays up in the photo?

In that case, not the chain rubbing. Something else rubbing?

That looks like chain rub from a dropped chain. Not a simple chip. I'm not sure why some people come up with that kind of damage, and others don't.

I wouldn't expect that it would be a warranty...
