While this doesn't address the OP's question (cheap 36 vs good 32), the following, taken from Sheldon Brown, strongly suggests that the difference in spoke count is not trivial.

Can't you order a 36h delivered for Friday and if it has not arrived cancel and go for a 32h?

I personally prefer quality. I'd fear regretting settling for average because of time constraints.
