I was never a skier, but did a few of the climbs in winter with some glissading coming down. We'd also search out some of the longer chutes and do some epic scree runs in summer

Yeah, he did quite well! He was an unknown in his first race and won. In his second race of the day, people watched him and he still won. He took on some heavy hitters in the 35+123 win at SF.
