i've toured with a backpack and it's a bad idea. it's possible to endure the sweat and extra weight for a couple days, but for longer tours it's unberable. i even hate wearing hip-packs when i ride.

sounds like a good idea to me. you'll increase the wheelbase i tiny bit with the extra rake of the lht fork, and maybe it has more brazeons for racks, fenders.
