Just got word that the gates are coming down today, 1/2/19. Calaveras is open.

Update - gates are coming down today, but road is officially reopened tomorrow, 1/3/19 at 10:00AM

10-20 mile bike ride from Mt View gives you a lot of options. 20-30 minute drive to Sunnyvale reduces your search radius to about 5 miles thanks to traffic these days ;-).
