I used a dremel with brass wire attachment. My fork was in way worse condition, yours will come out very nice if you can get those 2 items. Also helps that youll use less elbow grease! My 2 cents.

Could I get a 126 axle and put that into an originally 130 hub? The hubs are the same assuming just the axles are different lengths so it should work?? I ask because I want continue to use 8 speed...
