They matched up fine with the rims but felt mushy or soft at first. I tweaked the angle of the straddle cable so they grabbed before my levers ran out of play. Pretty good now.

I built mine up as a 9 speed but no matter how you set yours up I think youíll find it to be a very sweet riding frame. I was surprised how light feeling and responsive it is for a touring frame.

I built up a 1985 frame and it was fun to read this. I had to add the 3rd bottle mount prior to having it powder coated. It built up as a great touring bike for road and off road conditions.

However you refer to the date stamp on you Schwinnís head badge (build date, birthday, creation date....) I think it deserves annual recognition.
