I'm not interested in trends. I ride an e-bike because my health is less than it once was, so I can't ride a regular bike more than a few miles. My doctors tell me it's still good exercise.

I encourage you not to over-estimate your needs. I have COPD and asthma, so I tire much more easily than I once did. I use my bike often for laundry, groceries, and basic transportation. I bought the...

I'm here researching exactly that, although I don't plan to pull a "camper." I'm sure it's feasible. I might pull a trailer, and it's important for my decision-making that I live in an area where I'm...

I'm a Type 2 diabetic, so this is a serious thing for me. I like chocolate and I need something that won't melt, but only in warm weather. I use the "dipped" granola bars (whatever brand is cheap) in...

Thank you for the arithmetic. I'm new to the electrical/electronic side of cycling, and I have a related project. I have a 36v e-bike I'd like to use for long-distance travel. I'd like to use the car...

What's to say? I'm not a recreational rider much at all, but I've been riding bicycles for over 50 years. I've always done "utilitarian" cycling for the most part, and I like walking more than any...

Oh, well

I've been riding roads and streets for 50 years, mostly for transportation purposes and never with the kind of gear hobby riders use. There have always been some who respected me for my riding, quite...

I'll admit right here that I do not ride for adventure. I ride for transportation. (That "car free" thing) I put in 1.3 miles each way to a meeting today, then 3.4 miles each way to finish the...

Not a good idea, but . . .

I rode to the bike co-op yesterday. We have a "heat advisory" for heat indexes around 100 F (38 or so C), and my asthma makes that worse. Oh, well, I got a couple of things done. The round trip is...

Today, to pick up prescriptions. I'm car-free by habit, economics, and lifestyle, but I don't ride long distances unless I feel good (I'm disabled) and conditions are suitable. "Training" is not part...

It is indeed Columbus. I lived there for over a decade, and the last 9 months or so were another "car free" period. It's much easier with local transit.

Hi, I'm Calvin. I counted myself as "car light less than five years" on the poll because I live in rural Ohio and need someone's car to get to adjoining counties. I can't do 50-mile days as easily as...

Hi, I'm Calvin

I have an account here, but I haven't remembered it for some long period of time. I'll do an introduction just in case I haven't done it before.

I'm Calvin. I'm in rural Ohio, hoping (and needing)...

That is a small place indeed. I grew up in a town in the same county where I'm living now with a population of about 1100. The only sane solution I found for that was to leave, and you might not want...

Not so much. I live in a town of 16,000 people in rural Ohio, USA. It's no more than five miles (say, 8 km) all the way across. While I miss other things about the city, everything here is available...

I like being prepared. For me, that motorist not paying attention is easier to detect visually than any other way. I started out (long ago) with handlebar mirrors. They didn't have enough field of...

I'm not sure what they have for transit in Tuscaloosa, if that's where you are located. (I'm not sure if I found the right place on the map, either.) Most of the college campuses I've seen are very...

Then there's me . . .

Hi, I'm Calvin. I ride in Columbus, Ohio, mostly to commute to work Downtown. It's about 6 miles each way. Not the fun I'd like it to be from the Hilltop neighborhood, but still the best way to...
