I paid that much for my CAAD10 new in 2013. Though mine is 2x10, and was a previous year model.

It’s a very good bike, and prices now aren’t what they were, but it sounds steep to me.

I would think it should be fine. When setting up my current Athena build I used an old Veloce FD, (8 speed, i think) and it shifted fine. It’s the rear where you can have pull ratio issues, iirc.
