you're right. the frame is on the lower end, and a bit heavy. but that usually also translates into greater strength. if you don't mind the extra weight, it should be a decent conversion.

can anybody tell from the picture if this is 144 or 135 bcd?

all i know is that this has a 53/42 chainring, and is 172.5 mm length if that helps.
