It is not a difficult repair. The crack needs to be ground out and gas tungsten arc welded.
Usually you see a crack in the heat affected zone rather than in the center of the weld.

I am guessing that the crank is a shimano. After you remove the plastic cap from the nondrive side take off the two allen screws and the arm will come off. Then pull the drive side out.
