Rode to the gym and then to work from there. Both trips it was a windy downpour and 90% of the trip was on the busiest road in my city, but it's fun to get out in that stuff for the challenge of it....

I'd say that's perfectly fine unless you live in an area where riding on the sidewalk is illegal, but even then I'd probably consider it anyway if the visibility is clear and there are no pedestrians.

There are a lot of legitimate excuses/reasons not to bike to work, but I don't think having a ridiculously long commute is one of them. I think that's more like a poor life decision.

I did not commute by bicycle today, I ran the 4.5 miles to work with my backpack on instead. It was rainy but it was a good run. I may start alternating running/biking to work.
