All I'm trying to say is it feels too soft; but maybe I just don't know what stiff/soft is.

yeah pricepoint must be overcharging.... because like already said in this thread, the Avid BB7's (and BB5's for that matter) are MUCH better than the MX1's. The BB7's are going for I think 130 bucks...

go for the hardrock and upgrade the fork with the cash saved, especially if you do the work yourself. The hardrock frame has a burlier feel than the rockhopper.
