Thats the thing, people are comparing apples to oranges, you can and should be able to fit a drop bar bike to be as comfortable in the drops as you would be on the hoods if you want to use that...

I think there are alot of people here shouting past each other due to a lack of broad experience across different bikes. Drop bars can be set up as relaxed and comfortable as lot of flat bar bikes...

sounds like you were on the wrong sized bike then. Not sure how the width is an issue when you compare to a flatbar with barends is wider and on top of that you have no braking and shifting...

Light aluminum rims aren't necessarily a good thing, they dent easily IME. Love my stan's crest but they aren't the most durable rim out there. Carbon rims can actually be made quite a bit more...

Probably with a 46/30 or a 48/31. 50/34 11-40 required a full length uncut chain and the b-screw maxed out on my CAADX. You could flip the b-screw or use a road link easily

I dunno, all of the sram CX1 cages are pretty short and have limited capacity while being able to clear a larger max cog. For example the medium cage goes to a 36T but only allows for a 25t capacity.

I think his point is that the diameter is pretty tiny, causing the bike to lower significant compared to a 700c equivalent. Most people run at least 650bx42 or more commonly 47-48mm
