I understand the appeal and value of old things. Unfortunately, it was not worth much in the condition it was in. It is now priceless in my wife's eyes and will someday be handed down to my daughter....

No, I just bent them. Spokes are surprisingly flexible. In a pinch, I have made straight pull spokes out of j-bend spokes. Some are still ,in wheels years later.
