I vote for brown

I too was concerned with too much Brown redoing my 82' 728 2 years ago. Then I went all out Brown due to the Taupe head tube color. Rich old Brown Brooks, VO brown housings which have a light coffee...

Isn't this just for exposure?

Kinda reminds me of the entrepreneurs on Shark Tank trying to get Sharks to pay $200k for a measly 2% of their company barley turning a profit. Nobody buys in, the entrepreneur walks away empty...

Replies appreciated

Thanks as always for the great advice everyone has suggested. I think the answer for me is gonna be Berthoud's flattened stays. Now installation is gonna be a whole other thing........

Berthoud-Honjo-VO ? fenders best for toe clip overlap

I've read somewhere how the Berthoud flat stays wrapping around the fender have made a real difference with clearance in reducing toe clip overlap. Maybe this was taken from early builders for that...

Many of us are missing the biggest cost

To those who dislike high priced bike shops, do you know of anyone who's become wealthy owning one? I suspect it's mostly the opposite. And if you're bothered by the high markup and riches to be had,...

How to get past 100 replies

Let's mix in some helmet safety data, some odd Grant Petersen views, electronic shifting opinions, and we'll crash the server.

Pics of my Trek 728 project + centerpull brake question

I'm lucky to have scored this barley ridden 1982 Trek 728. After stripping it down completely, I'm almost back to a complete bike keeping it mostly original. I've never had these "grail" brakes I've...

Thanks so much for all the great advice I knew was here, allowing me to remedy this problem today.

The dishing was the issue, as I should've mentioned I recently replaced each spoke one at a time,...

"Grail" Gran Compe centerpulls-are they worth the headaches?

I'm lucky to have these on a 1982 Trek 728 I'm restoring, since they're original and were mostly unused. Guess I was naive about their odd sizes. Apparently the post diameter is about 1mm thinner, so...

Kurt, as the OP I can assure you I'm not pissed off, nor was this a troll. I genuinely can't understand the oddity of what they transformed into. Maybe I miss their original vintage aesthetic, which...

Schwinn S6-S5 tire question w/ pic

Just picked up this 1980 Collegiate 3 with the owner's manual stuffed under the saddle for only $60 on Craigslist. It appears to have almost never been ridden.

The original tires had cracked...
