Yeah I think I will try the cheap and quick swap to a 32 cassette first. Then I can look at a smaller double as someone mentioned. I don't need a whole lot more, just that extra kick for the 16-20%...

haha yes indeed. Victoria has a good bicycle recycle shop where you can pick up old frames and parts on the cheap. I'll probably head over there in the next few weeks.
