There are shims to install 1Ē headsets in 1 1/8Ē headtubes though.

When I had a 29er MTB, I never bothered repack the saddle bag. The 26Ē spare tubes worked just fine. Then when I went to a 700C commuter, the 26x1.1tubes stayed in use. No problem there either.

A 7-speed chain will run fine on ONE 10-speed ring. Spacing between rollers remain the same. Might not be so happy on a double/triple. Havenít tried. Will not be happy at all on a 10-speed cassette....
