The rim bend was actually what I was trying to smooth out when the second one went. But the spokes are like 12 years old, I feel it is time to replace them.

My beater bike popped a spoke, so I bought a spoke in LBS and replaced it and attempted to true the wheel.

That's when another spoke broke, while trying to make the wheel at least to some extent...
