I've taken several 1 hour plus rides, but the closest to trail riding has onlyt been dirt roads. All the #6 raods & trails are still icey or very muddy. I mean really deep mud, the kind that sucks in...

Ease-up just as you shift and let the chain engage fully before you push hard on the cranks. If you're pushing full power when you shift, you're just asking for the chain plates to pop.

I can only once remember snagging a grape vine with these bar ends. The turn-in seems to avoid other snags. These are Control Stix, circa 1993. Very light. I really like them for climbing.

I have a 1977 Puch Marco Polo that I used for touring in the late 70's. It has a Reynolds 531 sticker, however I also remember the seat & chain stays being plain gauge steel.
