I think it's no contest. Brand new state of the art alloy racer or 8 year old carbon. Paragon Sports in NYC had CAAD 12 105 for under $1100 recently. They ship everywhere, I'd call them.

I had the same experience, though it was a 17 lbs CAAD 10 and a 25 lbs Nishiki. Not much difference in the flats and descents but climbs were much harder on the Nishiki.
