Not sure what kind of oatmeal you are talking about. 40 grams of rolled oats is going to give you 150 Calories of which only 108 Calories will be from carbohydrates that will get converted to energy...

As long as I'm in the shape to ride a particular distance or even just attempt it, then carbohydrates are all I need for the entire time I am riding. And I'm happy putting all of them in my bottles....
