THE thing to do would have been to saddle up early, point it east and do a long downwind sail until dry land runs out, and take the train back. Wind was from the NW so not perfect, but good enough....

Thanks for your reply. Our bike is older, with curved fork legs rather than straight. There appears to be a bit more clearance up front than in the rear so I think we'll be OK with 40-42mm tires....
