I believe it's metric threading, M6 and relatively fine threading. Not sure of the exact size. If you have the bolt you can take it to a hardware store to check the thread size and pitch.

But, you can carefully cut around the hoods and have yourself a decent pair of branded hoods for your ride.

My experience is limited to late 70s models, but Gran Tours, Professional Gran Tours, etc, that I've had were always hi-ten framed bikes. Never seen a Gran Tour made from Ishiwata tubing.
