dude, keep the fenders. Your pants and ass will thank you. Brakes, while not necessary for some, are certainly recommended if this is your FIRST fixed.

I've had fenders and lights stolen a few times, only when too drunk to remember to take them off while locking up. I've also had someone steal my entire hipster-disk, aka 16 spokecards.
