I have walked about six miles in my sidis with spd-sl cleats, I just loosened up the straps a little, and was fine. Was more pissed about carrying the bike. YMMV

I can't speak for goo gone and wd40, my suggestion would be to just use the goo gone, or as also suggested, brake cleaner, that takes care of anything.

I've had my tarmac for about two weeks, and I absolutely love it. Plenty stiff, plenty fast, and plenty comfortable, and I'm 200lbs. She's sitting at about 14.5lbs, and I didnt weight weenie it. (yet)

In both the pics that you claim they look alike, the rear wheel (sl3) is much higher than the front, thus making the top tube look straight. Tilt your head sideways, and you'll see the curve.

+1 to doing it yourself. The tools should be around the same price as the labor, and you'll have the tools for the future, which will save you money on overhauling the bottom bracket, or tightening...
