This is the men's model

I just went over some of the specs and see that the fork is aluminum/steel. Anything specific to look for regarding that? BTW, I had asked earlier if the bike had been serviced and the seller said...

GT Airstream - opinions

Been considering a GT Airstream I've seen offered for sale. I understand that these were made around 1999. The old style frame and bars appeal to me. They are asking $150 but I am sure they will...

Why scratching?

One LBS says "How tall are you? OKIE DOKIE, you should need an 18" but bike hits me in the crotch. At another, I try a KSH (KHS?) hybrid with a sloped frame. When I get on and straddle the danged...

Can I get away with a smaller frame on a comfort bike?

As I posted earlier (somewhere on the forum), I'm about 5' 10 1/2" with an inseam of 30.5" using the book on wall measuring bit and shoes on. Every bike chart I see says I need about an 18" frame,...

Just for riding on paved roads, trails, etc. Little off-road.

I was just looking to see if swapping wheels was easy. Apparently, the frame geometries say it ain't so. Thanks for the insights.

I'm not terribly familiar with swaps, etc, but it could be a simple gear conversion. Didn't get a chance to handle the bike to see if it free wheels or not.

Can you swap wheels from an old 3-speed into a 26" MTB or Hybrib frame?

This is probably a dumb question but I've asked it. I like the ease and convenience of an old 3-speed but the combination of hills here and bike weight make them infeasible. I saw a rather nice...

They auctioned off those Maryland uniforms for charity

Was talking to my father-in-law about them (Maryland, class of '52). He said that one of the old football coaches decided that the black and gold uniforms didn't make the players look big, so he put...

First time I saw the Maryland U new team uniform. I kind of like it. FWIW, Maryland's colors are red and white but also the state flag. (Don't know which came first.) Sometimes they would put...

I have an old Tuntori stationary bike. It has the large, heavy flywheel and adjustable resistance using large brake pads. All pre-electronics, too. (Even has a mechanical timer, LOL.) I got it...

Looks like it. I have a couple of bikes at present. One's a circa '72 Raleigh Supercourse that I picked here in one of the neighborhood annual yard sales. The other is a Rans Tailwind recumbent...

That's my pants inseam. If I had tried a 19" in those two bikes, I wouldn't want to slip forward off the saddle. The 17" frames were just barely clearing, if that. I was wearing jogging shoes. I...

Fitting is, well, giving me fits

I'm a older guy in the market for either a hybrid or comfort bike. Early 60's, out of shape and lots of hills here where I live. I'm about 5'11" but with a 31-1/2" inseam. According to Hoyle, I...
