I think it is just time frame the RollerCam brakes were 1985-1986 then in 1987 when Ubrakes came out they took over.

All of my 1985-1986 MTB's have RollerCam brakes

I would agree it looks like the bottom Bracket...

I would agree it looks like the bottom Bracket spindle is to long . If the bottom bracket was from the triple it would most likely be to long for the double.
