Here's my 86 Miyata 100M. I converted it from drop bar to upright. I changed the cranks to Shimano 660. Swapped the brakes for Mafac Racers and added Suntour levers, thumb shifters and derailleurs....

I'd clean up the chainstay, apply a bit of body filler, smooth it, and touch up the paint. It's a very inconspicuous spot, behind the chain, so touch ups are easy to get away with.

Quite good shape except for that front derailleur. Can't imagine how one could ride with chain rub THAT long....
