New bike forums

I found a new, and quite interesting bike forum.
https://www.bikefanclub.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?Cat= Sort of a new concept. A little more brand focused. Should lead to some interesting discussions

I highly doubt that. Nothing like putting a bunch of people with the same opinions and viewpoints in the same room to quiet things down. How many different threads can you have about a single make of biker?

Maybe you didn't look at the site very hard. There are 17 brands open for discussion, plus an image gallery, classifieds and the forum administrator says that there is crossover between the forums. It's not linear.

Even with a single make forum, the old Serotta forum was a prime example, things got quite interesting and noisy more than occasionally.

My point, in pointing this forum out (I am merely a poster there), is that there is never too much information, discussion pro and con and idea exchanges in bicycling. We all can learn more.

Had a look. That's nice. I'm kinda guessing that there's not going to be a forum for Giant OCRs opening up any time soon.

However, I think the threads could be helpful in terms of supporting other riders with similar equipment. If someone finds a component, or tweak, or something that works particularly well for them, then it could benefit others. Conversely, the discovery of a manufacturers defect could help others get the appropriate service more quickly.

Here's a quote from the forum adminstrator that you may find interesting:

"In the past I would host forums only for a few select brands of bicycles. This was done mainly for my own selfish reasons. I used to say that each bike forum was created only for those brands I had direct experience with and happened to like. This ignored many other cyclists who asked me to create forums for their favorite brands. For various reasons such as lack of time and interest, I never bothered to accommodate their requests but now that has changed. The new website will no longer be limited to my own personal tastes but will now support more forums and allow readers to request forums for additional brands. If a community exists for brand XYZ bike, and enough people request it, you will see it here."

Hmm....no mountain bikes on there.....sure there's enough Kona, Specialized or XYZ fans here to cause some new forums.

Brand-specific forums do have their place. I frequent two such forums based on my brand of bike (one is hosted by the manufacturer however). The K2/ProFlex forum is a bit livelier though but it's the independent one.
