Weather Considerations?

On one of the stages last week, the commentators mentioned thunderstorms. I know the riders often race in the rain, but do the organizers ever call off a stage due to severe weather? How do they handle the times for that stage if they do?

a race can certainly be cancelled if the conditions are too dangerous. Can often happen if there is snow or ice on the route and the roads become unsafe.

It would be normal for the whole day to be nullified and they move onto the next stage in the morning.

Het Volk seems to be canceled every other year or so and it's typical for a stage or two at Paris Nice to be canceled or shortened. Then again, they didn't cancel the Gavia stage in '88...

Sometimes if there is unbearable weather on a mountain, (I mean like... difficult to keep the bike upright in the wind and rain) they will shorten the stage.

Read again what I said. I wrote "Then again they DIDN'T cancel..."
