ROCK SHOX JUDY J1 vs RST GILA T6
I know the ROCK SHOX JUDY J1 and RST GILA T6 are entry level forks. The reviews on the Judy J1 show it is a decent entry level fork..Who can give me some information on the RST GILA T6 forks?
I will mostly be riding up asphalt hills and on light xc with no jumping. I will be doing some fast downhills on rough asphalt and occaisonaly down a steep fireroad.

I had the RST Gila T6 on my Trek 4300 when I bought it new. I replaced it with a Rock Shox J3 because the RST was too stiff for me. I had it set to the softest setting and I still didnt like it. The J1 is pretty similiar to the J3, the J3 just has a lockout and rebound control. I have had the J3 on for over a year and I am pretty happy with it. To me the RST is junk and isnt any better than a rigid fork.

The Trek 4300 is one of the bikes I was looking at. Thanks for the input, I found the same comment on the RST elsewhere.

i would pick the RS judy. My friend (some of you may remember him, he bought a rockhopper within a year...) had a RM Fusion, and it came with a judy 1, while my bike came with a T5. his was a better fork, bar none. I don't have much experience with the T6, but i can't imagine it'd be much better.

T6 is very base. Coil/elastomer sprung, steel stanchions, no damping.
