Risky Business Bike

Hi all.
I am new to the forums and wanted to see if I could get some help on identifying a bike in the 1983 movie, Risky Business, with Tom Cruise.

In the opening scene, he is riding a blue bike and I was wondering if anyone know which model it is.

It is also seen again at night while he is walking it.

When Cruise is leaning against the bike, it looks like it has a red oval sticker/badge on the front fork of the bike and the words, "Sport" or "Speed" on the frame.

Schwinn World Sport? I had one in '85 and it was ice blue with turkey lever brakes and suicide shifters.

Doesn't he also borrow a different bike from someone at some point? I think is a red bike. The movie takes place in a nice suburb, I was also wondering what kind of bikes they used to represent that.

Very well could be. What's selling me is the round reflector at the back...But then again any bike could have had that.

He does. Just after he got suspended...great movie.
The red one looks similar to the blue bike. Both have the kick-stand and round reflectors...Also similar frames.

But this looks more like the shade of blue:

Interesting to see the drastic size differences between the two bikes.
The first one seeming to be quite small for Tom, and the second is way too big.

Yeah, in the movie, he borrowed the bike from a much taller actor, and when he got on, you could tell how hard it was for him to stay on the thing!

"Here's the problem, Matt. You don't know about Panasonics. I do. Matt, Matt, Matt... you're glib. You don't even know what riding is!"

I may have made some minor adaptations.

FWIW, I think, and have always thought, that Risky Business is a dumb movie. Being a pimp is not difficult, apparently, given the men who usually do it. But then, I don't find prostitution, or Tom Cruise, glamorous. He's got a serious Napoleonic complex, much like my ex-husband.

I do like Claudia Cardinale in Once Upon a Time in the West. The only movie I've ever seen where the "***** with a heart of gold" thing wasn't offensive. She rocked, in what was a fantastic movie overall.

Great character and great movie. I say this way too often these days: "they really don't make movies like that anymore!"

I agree, but there is a pearl in this particular pile of dung. At the very end of the clip - around 2:15 or so - the Service Manager's one line cracks me up every time I think of it.

One of my all time favorite movies! Funny, well made, fun to watch today.

Snarky, sure being a Pimp isn't difficult, but in the context of this movie, it was hillarious!

Big Daddy Kane says otherwise.
