I've noticed a lot of C&V bike people talk about their guitars, fiddles, mandolins, banjos, &c even though these things are woefully off topic. Unless they're C&V, of course!

So let's see some C&V musical instruments! May I suggest, please, ONE PHOTO per post? Don't unload your whole collection on us at once!

I'll start with my 1935 (or so) Gretch archtop guitar. All original except for the tuning heads (I have the original Klusons, but one is broken)

1945-6 Gibson J-45, bought new by my dad after seeing Leadbelly perform at the Swarthmore Folk Festival. Son, vintage 1996, pictured in maybe 2004.

beautiful gitars Gentlemen. I unfortunately can't carry a tune in a bucked as they say. I do love the beauty of a wood instrument though. something about the beauty of the wood asnd the care and craftsmanship that goes into it. you can't just pic beautiful wood, it has to be certain types and specialy aged.

Let's see if this works. Here is a picture that I sent Banjo Brothers last year with one of my banjos in their basket:



The banjo is a composite: 1920's Gibson tube and plate hardware and solid archtop no-holes tonering, a home-made pot, and a Florentine Special inlay style neck. The bike is a 1972 Humber sports.

I have lots more vintage instruments...

You know, I'm starting to have second thoughts about this thread. I usually just look at the photos of bikes and think, "I want one of those!" but now I'm thinking I need more guitars, too.

Note to self: you don't need more guitars.

Gibsons give me wood.

1948 España Classical. It's from Hagstrom's Lutherie, in Finland. It's one of the Journeymen Luthiers graduation to master Luthier guitars.

Back to front: 1920's Vega Whyte Laydie, 1920's Vega Tubaphone (both with newer 5 string necks) and a 1912 Gibson A-1 mando, which while not in the same league as your F-4, is a sweet little player.

I also have a Fender Stratocaster late 60's vintage that's on loan to a friend. When I got it used back around 1970 it had been spray painted white so I stripped it, stained it, put some kind of finish on it. Lots of runs so I sanded it again, at least partially. It's the same to this day. Looks exactly like Bonnie Raitts Strat.
