$40 HD 808 (#11) keyfob cameras

I saw this guy's video (not mine) and was instantly sold. It retails for $40 instead of $10, but the specs seem worth it. 720p HD, low-light performance comparable to the Contour, much wider FOV and better video quality/encoding than the old 808 cameras. Not to mention the ability to be powered by an external battery pack. So far I've purchased these, but probably won't get anything for at least 2 weeks:
-Camera+external battery, lasts for four hours ($52)
-16gb MicroSD, good for four hours of recording ($23)
-Wide angle lens ($11)

There's a ton of info in this RC plane forum thread:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...1362692&pp=100

Anyone on here have, heard of, or used this camera?

Bikes: Windsor Fens, Giant Seek 0 (2014, Alfine 8 + discs)

That looks great. I've been using a #3 camera but I will have to upgrade. The #3 battery dies if I take even an extra 10 minutes on my route, it's barely enough for my normal commute.

I think they're only sold on eBay from Hong Kong sellers right now. I ordered mine the second Friday ago (the date of the original post) and just got it today. Haven't tried it on my helmet yet, but random video taken around my apartment looks pretty promising.

Here's two screengrabs from my morning commute - it's pretty easy to capture license plate numbers, even from a distance and while riding into the sun. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

Compare that to a screengrab from my old 808 (a #8 version), where the quality is abysmal by comparison:

Where did you get the wide angle lens for it? Does it work well?

I bought it from eBay, but it's the same as https://www.dealextreme.com/p/univers...l-phones-14953

Hasn't arrived yet, so I can't speak for the quality.

If you haven't done it yet, there's a new firmware for 50 min stop/save/continue that works very well.

I'm testing a usb charger from Rite Aid right now that takes 2 AA batteries and is cheap. Once I know how many hours of recording time I get with it, I'll report back here so y'all will know if it's a good option.

Cheers,
Kevin
