Hello to Kyoto
Hi all, I'm moving to Kyoto, Japan in two weeks. This thread is mainly for me to ask a few questions about the biking situation in one of Japan's most beautiful cities.
To giantcfr1 and anyone else in Kyoto,
I'm an american moving to Kyoto, Japan on July 23rd as part of a popular English teaching program. I'm an avid cyclist (roadie and fixed) here in the states, and I hope to continue my passion in Kyoto. Based on my research, Kyoto is a bumping place for bikes, which is very reassuring.
I'm writing to ask you for some resources than can help me get up on the road as fast as possible. My Japanese is limited, so I don't know how successful I'll be trying to communicate what I want in a local bike shop.
Do you know of any shops that are westerner friendly and don't mind helping me out? Is there a good local or online resource for getting parts to build a bike?
Additionally, I am 6'2" so... I need about a 60cm frame. Will I have difficulty finding one in Kyoto?
Thank you for your time and I appreciate your answers.
