Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Old Fuji on CL - good deal?

I'm looking at this bike on craigslist. Does anybody know anything about these? Lugged steel? What the preferred derailers are? Is this a good price or too much?

Thanks for any help!!

I believe it could be this one. https://classicfuji.com/1979_11_GranT...Mixte_Page.htm

I think it's a good price. Condition seems all right. Are those chrome rims? If so, breaking in the rain is not very efficient. You can always stop by putting your heel on the back wheel.

Think so? I don't know much at all about these. If it's the one you linked to it says it's for a "cyclist with a limited budget". That's why I was wondering about the quality level of derailer. Looks like the cranks are "cotterless".

Thanks very much for the help...

Ok, but is it a practical every-day-rider for a semi-serious enthusiast? I ride about 15 miles on a daily, or near daily basis.

Thx..

Go for it if it's the right size. Offer $100

I think it is the right size. I'm going tomorrow to look at it (seller was on his way to work today). I'll keep y'all posted. Thanks again...

And more! its practical for a serious rider. If you like it, be semi any way you want but be it for at least 15 miles.

Bikes: everywhere

Not the most amazing bike but that specimen is in AMAZING condition. You would likely get more helpful info in the Classic & Vintage subforum than here in Road Cycling.

For an everyday rider? Not for me, but it depends on what kind of riding YOU do everyday.

I'd at least look for something without turkey levers and with aluminum rims personally.

That thing's so pretty it would be tough not to buy it and ride on sunny days for mellow rides only.

I'm riding a single speed roadie. I do ~15 miles almost daily, sometimes more, and at a fairly good pace. Today I did 22.

I guess I want to see how I'd like the change to multiple gears and this would be an inexpensive way to find out. I could upgrade wheels, etc, but I'd probably eventually get a lighter bike with modern shifters and more efficient wheels/tires, should this work out to my liking.
