Been dropping hints for the last month so for any of you that do not realise it- or have a memory problem-- It is this coming Saturday September the 17TH.

No real rules for this event except you should do a bike ride and Have Pie. Accepted distance for the ride is 15 Miles but don't worry if the weather or capability does not allow for that distance. Just get a ride in. The Pie can be any type but the Accepted standard that you all have been training for is Blueberry. Doesn't matter if the pie is bought at a Cafe- cooked at home and taken with you or is a Shop bought one. The norm is to have the Pie during the ride but can be had at home if necessity dictates.

Thre main thing is that You get a ride in and have Pie- However if you get greedy and have 2 slices- then you have to do double the distance to work off the extra calories consumed.




Pics are necessary and are best if the bike is involves aswell- as in the attachments.

Now you can blame RCK and Skipper for this event as they have a Cafe they go to called Irma's Kitchen and they posted the Menu one year. Whether you realise it or not- Irma's is the Virtual Clubhouse of this forum due to the variety and quality of their Pies. So if you manage to get to see Irma- Thank her from the Forum.

I'm doing an Amish group ride this Saturday which includes a Mennonite meal afterwards, featuring chicken and noodles, and of course, pie.

hmmmm someone in the Atlanta/Decatur area listed some places for pie. Need a refresh of places nearby for the pie ride. HELP!

How much further than 15 miles do I have to ride to have ice cream on my pie? Not sure where to get Blueberry so I'm thinking hot Apple Pie with Cinnamon Ice Cream.

I just got back from a 13.9 mile round trip to the Soft Serve for a cone for lunch, wasn't sure it would still be open as many of them close after labor day here but they said they will be open until Oct 1.

Cream-Ice Cream or Custard can be had without penalty- providing it is on the Pie and not a separate serving.

And watch out for those bikes- they get hungry too.

I try for a different destination for every pie ride. This year will be a ride to an Amish farm market, 30 miles return. I hope this place sells by the slice; last year we had to buy the whole pie. Not a terribly bad thing as it was blueberry. Weather is predicted to be 80 degrees and sunny. I am really looking forward to it!

Mr Stap - you're misleading people. You call 'pie ride', but you exemplify chocolate cake which is beyond demur the confectionary of satan. As is any baked good involving chocolate.

For the love of all that's pure, keep chocolate away from ovens. And, above all, out of pies. That's the place for fruit, pork, chicken, steak and kidney.

Have to admit that it is Chocolate Cake. But with all that fruit on it -it had to be healthy And the pic was really to show my stealth bike trying to nick my snack.



But just a shot to show the problems I have at Fuscardi's on the Sefront at Eastbourne. I sometimes Take a full 10 seconds to decide on my pie for the day.

I do feel sorry for some of you Americans. Lambs kidneys Braised for Breakfast are fantastc and Rump steak and Pigs kidney in a Pie----You do not know what you are missing. The only thing better would be more kidney. I can't blame it on anything else other than my Upbringing. Grandfather and Uncles were Farmers and I was Born just after the war when all meat was rationed- if You could get it. They could sell any "Spare" meat they could rear- but the Offal came to us Londoners as a Special treat every week within the Ration Free meat shipment.

My wife and I, while riding the tandem, got into a discussion of "Pie Ride" and required miles. Now, is it, 15 total miles or do you have to go 15 miles to get PIE and then 15 back? It amazes me we don't really have a many places that make PIES, their mostly into the "fu, fu sissy" decorated desserts, Arrrrrugh! So our in our search for PIE fulfillment we may just have to do, 15 miles out anyway!

Can the pie be made of barley and hops and yeast and water? Not a good pie ride destination in range here, but there is a great brewery at the prescribed distance....

My worry is that the Barley hops and Yeast Pie would be overindulged in and the Journey back may be a bit hazardous So in this situation I would suggest taking along a Home made Pie to acompany it- or this may even be the case for Pie after the ride at home. And the total distance per slice of Pie is 15 miles but as it is a Tandem- We have have to call for a ruling from the relevant committee on the number of slices per 15 miles. You may be putting on weight.

Thanks to improving health I am going to attempt my first pie ride this Saturday! I'll barter with the wife for a home made blueberry pie but will negotiate as necessary for other fruit pies. As Mike on "Wheeler Dealers" says, "Wish me Luck"

It's peach season here, so I think I'll bake my own peach pie, drive it out to the cottage, and then ride out the next day and eat it. The distance should entitle me to two slices. This will be my first pie ride, so I hope I can do it right.

It is a "Pie Ride" thing for the blueberry pie. My wife makes an excellent BB pie. I can get a Key Lime at most any restaurant in our area. This one is special for me too.

Will someone have a slice for me? I've got my first class at 8:00 am and teach the last one at 5:00 pm. Four classes all on Pie Ride Day. If it wasn't an hour and a half trip to the university and then home again, I could sneak on in. But, I know I'll be beat at the end of the day. So, once again.... will someone have a slice for me?
