Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why on earth would you put P4 stickers and world champion stripes on that thing? I mean, I'm jealous of your trip, but why the decals?

You won't be disappointed with 105's, go for it. Make sure it's compatible with your other components.

Fair enough... Looks like you have a solid, purpose-built bike for the task at hand, but there are some people who object to labeling bikes as something they're not. But if you like it, that's what's important!

I've got two-- A Lynskey R230 road bike, and an Argon 18 E-116 tri bike. Love 'em both. The E116 is still a bit of a work in progress.

You definitely built up the bike for its purpose so enjoy the travel. Stick with a 105 FD and you'll be fine and won't have to spend nowhere near a $100 for one.

Shimano's 105 (5700) is specifically a road setup, not mtb.

Go all 105. You will be fine. Enjoy and post many pics. 105 5600 will do even better at lower price.
