Vintage Bianchi: What model is this?
Hey guys, I'm new to the site! First Thread. I was wondering if anyone knows what model/Year this Bianchi is, and how much is it worth? Pretty new components on it I just have never seen this model before? BEAUTIFUL BIKE, Thinking of picking it up if the price is right! Thank you.

Looks like a mid to late 80's model. I wouldn't be surprised if it was re-painted.

Do you think it was repainted and new decals put on? I have not seen that blue "Bianchi" in that "font" in any of the vintage models.

Hello Welcome to the forums. Any better pics? How about a closeup of the dropouts, forkends headset and the crank? Some details don't seem to add up. The decals look '70s vintage but it has daul bottle mounts usually seen on later than '86 bikes, but there seems to be an earlier cartouche on the seatstay caps.
Without further infor on the frame it looks like most of the components post date by about 7-10 years.

Bianchigirll knows her Bianchi's. I originally thought it was a mid to late 80's frame but the seat stay caps are typical of an earlier frame. I then thought the front fork could have been a new addition but the twin bottle cage mounts on the frame had me re-thinking this thought. In conclusion, I am sticking with mid to late 80's and deferring to Bianchigirll's knowledge and settling on an 86 build.
I think it has been re-painted and earlier decals have been used (some of which look to be in the wrong position.
It is a nice bike and worth consideration if you are looking for a bike. As for the model - I could not say if it is a re-paint. I'd expect to pay about $860 ( same as the frame year) for it.

Paint - or powdercoat - looks too glossy and pristine to be original. 1970s looking decals with 1980s looking lugs and braze ons also suggests repaint. I'm going to guess there is not the original tubing decals.
Anyway, repainted or powder coated '80s frame with wrong decals + Shimano 600 group doesn't seem like a very high-value combination to me. I'd like it as a bike to ride, but not for any collector value. When you get into the $500+ range you can start getting nice higher-end Bianchis with original paint and Campagnolo components. I'd pay less than that for this bike.

Well whatever it is it certainly looks nice and shiny. Near as I can tell going by the circle B on the stay cap, the fork crown and cable routing.. I think you have an 85 frame built with Bianchi Special tubing drawn by Columbus. The decals as noted are of course wrong for that year, and only three models wore a chromed chainstay. I would suspect the extra bottle bosses were brazed on when it was repainted, but I might have put a pumppeg on too.
I would have a hard time going over 500 on this. This surely has an Italian BB shell so I wonder if it has an correct 600 Italian BB or something else.

'85 you say Bianchigirll - well I'm dropping my price estimate to $850.
Bianchigirll brings up an interesting observation - Were the second pair of bottle cage braze-ons brazed on at the time of the re-paint?
Is the bottom bracket an Italian bottom bracket?
Were the decals clear coated over at the time of the re-paint? If not, it would be easy to remove the decals as we see them and obtain a more correct set of decals and apply them to the frame. Personally, I like the decals on the bike now as I feel they are a much better style. I think 'Holiday 76' has a Bianchi that he painted and applied an early version of the Bianchi logo to - it looks pretty good.

Agreed, it appears to a a repainted, circa 1985 model with mid-1990s components. It's definitely an Italian built frame based on the dropouts. The frame could be either mid-range or lower, upper end. If considering a purchase, remove the front wheel and check the inside bottom of the fork's steerer tube for the five spiral ridges found on full SL frames. If they're not present, the frame is mid-range model with tretubi SL or Matrix. Should you purchase it, we can determine the year via the serial number. Is this bicycle in the USA?

This Bike is in the U.S.A and about 4 hours from where I live. I Haven't seen the bike in person yet, still deciding... I think I would be able to get this bike for around 400-450$. Seems fairly priced, according to your opinions. The more I look at pictures, the more I drool....

^^ There are a few more photos. I'm not sure if you can determine the bottom bracket just by viewing a photo, but heres a few anyways. Thank you to everyone who has given input!

As a rider $400-450 may not be a bad price, it is sure to be a good handling comfortable bike. I do agree if the decals are above any clearcoat take them off, especially downtube decal on the seattube OY!
T-Mar may be able to clean something from that pic but we are refering to the threading of the BB shell.
This set of decals minus the World Champion and Reparto Corse and Columbus, would be closer to correct for this bike. You could in theroy use that Columbus decal but personally I would use a Repaint Decal or none at all if I couldn't find the correct Special decal
decal C would IMHO be closest to correct
Or just a repaint like D

I can't get a good enough read on the serial number to determine the year, but the format confirms an Italian manufactured frame, which we already knew via the dropout branding.

Hey mummylegz...
did you ever manage to find out what model (and year) for this bike? I'm considering getting a bike similar to yours.
I'm thinking of getting it but not knowing the model and year is holding me back. Below is my post.

Hey there smirkdoff, I ended up buying this bike yesterday! I, as well, would love to know the actual model/year. Now that I have the bike, what information should I get from it to figure our what year it is? Serial numbers??

Which bike did you buy? The one smirkdoff posted about? Unless T-Mar can provide some light on the issue (and it is rather late in the season but I suspect he may still be on the rowing circuit with his son) I think my estimation of a '85 frameset very possibly a Mondiale with new decals, most of which may not even belong on it, and hodgepodge of ok parts.

I bought the one I posted about in January, 400 dollars. I personally think I got a great deal, but i would love to hear others thoughts. The serial number on the bottom is B062. Older components, but set up well in a shop and is sooo smooth. I would agree with an 85' Mondiale, comparing it to the following link https://www.speedbicycles.ch/showBike.php?enr=315 . Love it so far. Any one know if this is low, mid, or high end frame for back in the day??
