Need Help with a Repair

I was recommended to check out this forum for help with this.

I have a crack in my 7005 aluminum frame where the top tube meets the seat tube. There have been numerous suggestions including possible gussets to reinforce it, but I don't know anything about this stuff.

It's currently being discussed here:

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...n-life-support!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Sure it can be fixed. There is a serious flaw in the engineering (or design) that should be addressed. All of the riders weight and most of his/her strength is being applied to a pretty small piece of material in a really small triangle.

I would need to know more about you and the bike to describe the modifications needed to complete an effective repair or you can send it to me. I was one of the first people to weld a bicycle from 7005 and have made hundreds of frames that didn't break and a few that did. I fixed those ones and they didn't break. This has been going on for more than twenty years.

If you can get the bike to Frank, it will stay fixed. Having said that, I would bug Rans about it to see if they will fix it, seems like a pretty predictable failure to me
