"track geometry but with 26x2.5 tires..."
"... for going wild offroad or just over potholes"

look at that saddle to bar drop (and an integrated seatpost!)! going WILD offroad with that?!
and he's got a custom bottom bracket and titanium crankset.
this bike is absolutely insane! it's like a pugsley, but so much cooler!

i know that you are going to want to be able to change saddle height to account for varying riding terrain, but is it so hard to believe that he's carefully considered how long the seatpost needs to be in order to achieve a saddle height that can be tolerable in most conditions? the only thing that bothers me is the absurd amount of saddle to bar drop, but that's a relatively easy fix.

Another strange thing. Am I looking at it correctly. No bar tape or grips? Doesn't sound like a very comfortable off road ride to me at all unless he is wearing gloves and even still, I could do with more padding.
A really cool concept and pretty build, but unless I am missing something this bike is fashion over function in almost every way. I honestly really want to like this bike, I do, I want to look at it and go "whoa.. cool idea, looks great and wow gives you cool benefits" but I don't see a single benefit to this bike other then making some hipster chick all hot and bothered when you ride past. On second thought.. where can I get one?

i don't really have a good answer to that to be honest, maybe it was easier/cheaper to build that way, as this thing is definitely a custom/one off kind of thing. might affect the feel of things somehow, though i'm not sure if it'd be for the better or worse.

Ya, I am just trying to objectively look at this and see what the reasoning behind the choices in the build are. One thing that happens a lot around these parts are people doing weird stuff "just to be different" which is silly and then when you say "well what is the reason for that" they get defensive and say things like "you dont like change man, your so old hat. lame!". I just prefer looking at builds critically. Its fun

I have to say it kind of looks idiotic with drops that deep but at the same time it looks like it would shred all those loose packed sandy trails in the Presidio and Golden Gate Park that eat my 700x23s. At the finish line in Snelling I saw another spectator who had converted his Merlin Extralight into a singlespeed cruiser. It had big fat tires, front basket and fenders. I can't deny I didn't want to ride over some mooseheads and slide through some gravel on that goofy machine.

I think that bike is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time (saddle to bar drop aside)...
And I would definitely ride that thing into the ground with a different bar setup

i doubt he'd have built a custom bike just like the first one if it didn't fit him properly.
very different and clean.

I seem to recall we all loved his other titanium MTB w/ huge saddle to bar drop and fatty slicks....
