Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: Lots. Mostly steel. Mostly heavy. Mostly geared, and very low, at that.

Have you guys seen the Hon Solo? It's one of the 2006 Dahon folding bikes. Suzue flip-flop/brooks b17/wooden fenders&chainring guard/leather grips/nitto moustache bars/etc.

I found it in the UK https://www.fisheroutdoor.co.uk/publi.../DHHC0146.html

We don't have the prices from Dahon for this year's bikes yet, but given the 700 brit-bux they're asking for it, it'll probably be well over a grand if not a grand and a half.

I was thinking about getting one of their frames and building up a folding fixed gear but they beat me to it.

i just converted my speed 7 to a, um, Speed 1. As soon as I can justify a 135mm f/f hub, it'll be fixed too. The moustache bars and the leather grips, though...damn.

If you want one jump on it now, there's only 50 of them coming to the U.S. BTW I think there coolest thing I've seen in a while. I'd be buying one but I have an engagement ring to pay off.

ah, that's your problem, you didn't get the engagement ring out of a machine at a taqueria for $.25

Bikes: Bomber Pro, Shorter, Iro MVP, Some old british steel thing

man, I'm sold, never realized just how much of the akwardness of folders came from dealing with all the cables and whatnot, both those options are damn elegant...

I don't get it. Fixed folders are not exactly new. Look at the FGG.

The reason I thought this was unusual and worth posting about was that it was a PRODUCTION bike, not a one-off.

I would seriously doubt that any of the ones on FGG are actually stock items. As a matter of fact, at least one of them I saw was built by an employee at Bike Friday for his personal use. I see on their site that they've started offering a fixed option, but I think that's pretty dang recent.

I KNOW I'd rather have a Friday than a Dahon.

It's good to know that they're offering one as well. I might even order one someday soonish.

Hey, it's not fixed but ss! Maybe they took a fixed/free flipflop hub and put on a freewheel? Dunno, but they say its free and it has a rear brake. The hub prolly has at least one fixed side, though, so it has to be fixable...

It's a fixed/free, sent out freewheel. About the ring, she wanted it to cost more than my most expensive bike- prove I love her more or sumthin. Any how, I am lucky that she is into bikeing also. She's buying the tandem

Bikes: not as many but still too many

It is 899 dollars list according to Dahon .Where have you been ?we discussed this on Dahon forums and here on bike forums about a month ago.Every thing seems to cost more in England.

After I settle down in Dublin, I'm planning on trying to track down an old Raleigh 20 folder to fix up. It's been on my todo list for a while.

Shh... Don't tell my wife.
